ABOUT RICHARD LOPEZ
Proven Experience. Trusted Leadership. Local Commitment.
As a lifelong resident of Merced County, Army Veteran, educator, parent, and a proud product of our local schools, I am honored to announce my candidacy for Merced County Superintendent of Schools.
With over 30 years of experience in education — from classified employee to classroom teacher to site principal to district superintendent, and board member of both large and small school systems — I have seen firsthand the challenges and the incredible potential within our county’s educational landscape. I am running because I believe every student deserves access to a high-quality education, meaningful career and technical opportunities, and the resources they need to fulfill their dreams.
My campaign is centered on building solutions in education, safety, and opportunity. I will continue to advocate for programs that support student achievement, invest in our teachers and staff, collaborate with parents and stakeholders, and create safe, thriving learning environments across Merced County.
This is more than a campaign. It’s a commitment from someone who is from this community, is invested in this community, who has led at every level of education in the Merced County community, who will work tirelessly to support every student, every educator and every school system in our county, and engage parents as our partners in education.
Together, we can shape the future of education in Merced County.
